Born and raised in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Maria Whiteley has written 4 books, for adults (Self Worth Knowing and Release....Feel Your Peace), Young people, (Own Two Feet) and for children (Taking Care of Me and You) as tools for managing their emotional health and wellbeing.
Maria herself is a service user of County Durham Primary Care Trust, England, having experienced Mental Health concerns and is a “Time to Change” champion, addressing issues of stigma and discrimination in those known to have experienced a mental health problem.
A passionate believer in self worth being an inividuals best asset in managing their own concerns at any age, Maria has since trained in Mickel Therapy, during which the therapist facilitates individuals in restoring their own health who are experiencing conditions such as M.E, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, IBS anxiety and depression amongst other concerns.

Maria has had a career over 25 years in nursing, both in the NHS and private sector, most recently as a Registered Sick Childrens Nurse
with Newcastle Hospitals Trust, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. She currently lives near Consett, County Durham, with her husband Andrew, and their 2 grown up children, Simon and Helen and Sprite the Cat.
